Backdated Bentos # 115 & 116 - Pokemon

Pokemon pasta is every boy's favourite, at least at my boy's kindy. Suddenly, my boy decided that bringing bento to school was cool. I even had other mummies calling me to ask where to buy the Pokemon box and pasta as their boys went home requesting for the same.

Bento #115 : Pokemon pasta in cheese sauce, mini chocolate muffin, grapes and cubed cheese.

In Boylet's current favourite bento box.

For Bento #116 : Decided to be more ambitious and make a Pikachu sandwich as well (Boylet is more a bread person than rice). I used the Pikachu rice mould to cut out the shape on bread, and tried to cut the features as closely to the mould as possible. Made this for boylet's lunch (another replacement class right after kindy) so had plenty of time.

Contents : Pikachu strawberry jam sandwich (features were also stuck on with jam), pokemon pasta with carbonara sauce (in container under the bread), a crabmeat-on-stick and chicken nugget.

Unfortunately, the Pokemon bento box was too small to fit all these in. So I used another box instead. Another justification for this recent purchase (among others) from MarketPlace. With two levels, it can pack more than the Pokemon box above. For snack bento, I will just use one layer. Boylet is absolutely thrilled with this.

Bento # 27 - Pikachu

Although I'm not packing lunch for the boylet, there is no reason to let the bento tools I got for him go to waste. Hence a Pikachu bento for girlet using Pikachu rice mould. Beneath the fishcake were stewed chicken and quail's egg. Sweetpeas and sweetmeat filled in the gaps. The pikachu was made from chicken rice. Also had a side container for dragonfruit cut into bear shapes. Was attempting to get girlet to eat a wider variety of fruits, following Rachel's blog.
The final product in a pikachu bento box complete with cutlery set. Both were bought from a gift shop in Bangsar, opposite Czip Lee / Bangsar Village 2 a few months ago. They carry lots of Hello Kitty, My melody, Doraemon, and Disney stuff. Have bento boxes (not the face shape ones though), cutlery set, occasionally certain moulds/cutters.
Anyway, Girlet's response was : "Mummy, that doesn't really look like Pikachu....... But I know you tried your best." LOL. How encouraging was she?

More loot from Singapore

Bought these cute stuff from the shop in Chinatown Point. Spent more than SGD100, so am now a member, ie. future purchases have 10% off. Yay!

This is a silicon cake/pudding/jelly mould. Is oven safe. There is a similar mould for Winnie the Pooh, but out of stock.

These are vegie/cookie cutters. So cute right? I'm eyeing those with Tigger and Piglet. Read somewhere that Carrefour Plaza Singapura has, but didn't find any when I went.

My dear sis, can you please go check at BHG Bugis when you are free. Thanks!

I tried them on carrots. Works well. But don't slice carrot too thin, or the cutter will cut through, as can see from the broken HK's neck on top.

The kiddos were very impressed, but didn't eat any cos too cute. That defeated the purpose, didn't it? Hmm.....
More Hello Kitty cookie/sandwich/pancake cutters.

Also bought a Hello Kitty pancake pan. I had actually seen something similar being sold in KL for RM20+, but didn't get it. Now couldn't find it anymore. Talk about regret. Ended up having to pay double of that.
This is a Pikachu rice mould. After buying so many girlie Hello Kitty stuff, must balance with some boyish things ~_~ And lastly, my favourite. A complete set of Hello Kitty rice mould, nori and vegie cutter. Rice mould to shape the face. Nori cutter (which works like paper punch) for the face features -HK eyes, HK whisker & rabbit nose/mouth. Vegie cutter for cutting out HK's bow (from red capsicum), My Melody's flower and bear's ears.
